Hitesh Bhatia, Managing Director, Hitesh Design & Build
In the long-stretching history of Dubai’s transformation, few stories carry the weight of three generations. It began in the 1960s when the grandfather of the family first set foot in the Emirates before independence. In 1979, following that path of opportunity, Mukesh Bhatia arrived in a city that was still finding its architectural voice.
Mukesh was a man who understood that a city is only as strong as the infrastructure beneath its surface. After years of mastering the landscape, he took a definitive leap 31 years ago, founding Hitesh Electrical Contracting. With just three technicians and a toolkit, Mukesh set out to build something more than a business; he set out to build a reputation for honesty in a market that was just beginning to boom.
Today, that modest spark has evolved into Hitesh Design & Build. Named after his son, the company has grown into a multidisciplinary powerhouse that bridges Mukesh’s 31-year foundation with the high-tech ambition of a new era.
A Legacy Built by Hand
The story of Hitesh Design & Build isn’t one of overnight success, but of Mukesh Bhatia’s enduring resilience. For decades, the company was essentially a “one-man show.” Mukesh was on the ground every day, personally managing everything from site supervision to authority coordination. In the early days, he led his small team through the neighborhoods of Barsha, tackling simple rectifications and complex electrical layouts.
As the company grew, it faced the inevitable storms of the global construction industry. There were years of hardship where the market shifted, forcing Mukesh to navigate significant losses and reduce his team. Yet, his commitment to his craft meant the company remained DEWA approved since inception, maintaining a perfect record with authorities that remains “clean” to this day—a rare feat in a city with 1,465 registered contractors.
Mukesh didn’t just survive; he bounced back stronger, pivoting the business toward labor accommodations, massive warehouses, and specialized MEP services for factories. His reputation preceded him—a man who had been a fixture in the UAE since 1979. It was this deep-rooted trust, earned through decades of showing up on-site, that eventually led the firm to serve the Dubai Royal Family and iconic global brands.
The Evolution: From Wiring to “Design & Build”
In 2017, the story took a modern turn when Mukesh’s son, Hitesh Bhatia, joined the firm. Despite a background in finance, Hitesh was drawn to the business by the immense trust he saw clients place in his father.
“My background is in finance, but watching my father work changed my trajectory,” says Hitesh Bhatia, Managing Director. “I saw the way people looked at him—they didn’t just see a contractor; they saw a man they could trust with their livelihood. That trust is the most valuable asset we inherited.”
Hitesh realized that the company could be more than just an electrical contractor; it could be a “one-stop solution.” Within two years of joining, he spearheaded the expansion into complete commercial fit-outs and turnkey industrial projects. This evolution culminated in the rebranding to Hitesh Design & Build. The new name signals a shift in philosophy: the firm no longer just executes a plan—it creates it. From the first architectural drawing and DEWA approvals to the final handover of a factory or warehouse, they manage the entire lifecycle.
Innovation with a Human Pulse
Walking into the office at 6:00 AM, you’ll still find the founder, Mukesh Bhatia, at his desk. He remains the heartbeat of the company, actively managing site coordination and mentoring a team of engineers and architects who are all under the age of 35.
“When the team is young, they bring a different energy and a fresh set of ideas to the table,” Hitesh explains. “We pair that youthful innovation with my father’s 31 years of technical discipline. It’s the perfect balance of ‘what works’ and ‘what’s next.’“
This marriage of “old-school” integrity and “new-age” innovation is visible in their latest milestones. In 2026, the firm secured a landmark project: an EV charging hub in Dubai requiring a massive 3,400 kW of power. To support such complex work, they have embraced radical transparency, using project management software to provide clients with live, daily photo updates of their site’s progress.
The 45-Day Promise
In a city where time is the most expensive currency, Hitesh Design & Build has mastered the art of the “soft opening.” Carrying forward Mukesh’s commitment to efficiency, they don’t just aim to meet deadlines; they aim to beat them. For instance, if a contract allows for 60 days, the team pushes to finish in 45.
“In our industry, every day a client isn’t operating is a day of lost revenue,” Hitesh notes. “Our goal is always to hand over the keys early. If we can give a business five extra days of trading, we’ve done our job. We aren’t just building structures; we are building their success.”
To prove this commitment, the firm often conducts initial site checks and authority consultancy for free. They believe in proving their value before a contract is ever signed, ensuring that every client feels the same trust Mukesh inspired back in 1994.
A Legacy of Integrity
As the company looks toward the future, its core values remain unchanged: honesty, lifelong learning, and the belief that every project is a chance to grow. Hitesh Design & Build is an ISO-certified company that stays true to the personal integrity Mukesh Bhatia breathed into the business three decades ago.
From a three-man team in 1994 to a modern design-build leader, the Bhatia legacy continues to power Dubai’s growth—one wire, one warehouse, and one relationship at a time.
